“Jobs, Homes & ‘Hoods: We’re staying in Queens”
September 18, 2016 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm
The Sunnyside Chamber of Commerce is one of 11 organizations, primarily in Queens, holding a free informational two hours forum to help protect our small businesses and retain our “Small Town in the Big City.”
We have lost 15+ small firms in Sunnyside in the past two years, as the real estate boom spreads east from Long Island City.
Among the topics which will be discussed are “Gentrification and Displacement,” the benefit of broad community alliance to resist 50-25 Barnett Avenue, Kirsten Theodos will tackle Small Business Jobs Survival Act why it would help not only small firms but professionals, and residents, too. Secretary Melissa Orlando and Mitch Waxman of Access Queens will address our infrastructure needs, and the Steve Null, the author of SBJSA, will be available for Q &A. Our mom & pops, old and new are part of what is so wonderful about Sunnyside Woodside, and if unite we can keep not only our businesses afloat but our residents from displacement.
